My 36 inch Blackstone Griddle

I like to make hibachi at home on my Blackstone Griddle because of the large cooking surface which allows me to multitask and cook my whole meal at once.  The 36 inches of my flat top allows us to enjoy our favorite flavors any time that we want.

I enjoy cooking with other family members and teaching them how to griddle cook.  If you are talented (which I am not), you can entertain friends and family with hibachi tricks like flipping shrimp into the air or squirting drinks into a willing guests mouth!

Not only is it a fun way to cook, but it’s also versatile – you can make everything from breakfast to dinner and even desserts.  If you are new to griddle cooking, my hibachi recipes are a perfect way to make cooking at home exciting, fun, and delicious.

The Ultimate Tool for Hibachi Cooking – A Blackstone Griddle

Have you wondered what they use to cook hibachi recipes at home on?  The majority of the time it’s a Blackstone Griddle!

I have been cooking hibachi on one for more than 4 years and I absolutely love it!!  With it’s large, flat cooking surface that heats evenly, making it easy to cook a variety of ingredients simultaneously.

Unlike traditional grills, a griddle allows you to cook delicate foods, like eggs or thinly sliced vegetables, without them falling through the grates.  And with plenty of room to work, you can quickly move ingredients around as you cook – a key technique in hibachi cooking.

With a Blackstone Griddle, you can cook a wide range of hibachi recipes, including:

  • Breakfast: Fluffy scrambled eggs, breakfast sandwiches, and even pancakes!
  • Lunch: Grilled sandwiches, hibachi chicken wraps, and veggie stir-fry bowls.
  • Dinner: Classic hibachi steak, shrimp, fried rice, and sautéed vegetables.
  • Appetizers: Quesadillas, grilled skewers, and queso dips.
  • Desserts: Hibachi-style fried bananas, grilled pineapple, or mini Oreo cheesecakes.

Whether you’re looking to impress your friends with a fun hibachi dinner party or just want to switch up your weekly meal routine, there are endless possibilities when it comes to cooking hibachi recipes on a Blackstone Griddle.

Hibachi at Home: Essential Tips & Tricks

Cooking hibachi at home is all about technique and presentation. Here are a few tips to bring that authentic hibachi feel to your own backyard:

  1. Prep in Advance: Have all your ingredients sliced, diced, and ready to go before you start cooking. Hibachi cooking is fast paced, so having everything prepped ensures you won’t miss a beat.
  2. Use the Right Tools: Invest in a quality griddle spatula set, squeeze bottles for your sauces, and a basting cover to help steam vegetables or melt cheese over your hibachi creations.
  3. Master the Onion Volcano: One of the most iconic hibachi tricks, the onion volcano is surprisingly easy to do at home. Stack a few rings of an onion on top of each other, add a bit of oil in the center, top the oil with a squirt of alcohol and light it for a quick burst of flame – a surefire way to impress your guests!
  4. Add Hibachi Flavors: Garlic butter, soy sauce, and teriyaki are essential flavors along with an array of spices in hibachi cooking. Experiment with these to enhance the flavor of your meats and veggies.
  5. Practice Your Flipping Skills: Part of the fun of hibachi is the chef’s impressive spatula skills. Start with easy moves like flipping shrimp or veggies and work your way up!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is hibachi cooking?
Hibachi cooking is a Japanese-style grilling technique where ingredients are cooked on a flat, open-top griddle. The word “hibachi” actually means “fire bowl,” and it originally referred to a small heating device. However, in the culinary world, hibachi commonly refers to the entertaining, interactive cooking style found in many Japanese steakhouses.

Can I cook hibachi on a regular grill?
While you can cook some hibachi-style dishes on a regular grill, a flat griddle like the Blackstone Griddle is ideal for true hibachi cooking. The griddle’s flat surface allows you to cook a wide range of foods without the risk of them falling through the grates, and it provides even heat distribution for precise cooking.

What ingredients do I need to make hibachi at home?
Basic hibachi ingredients include proteins like chicken, steak, or shrimp; vegetables like zucchini, onions, peppers, and mushrooms; and seasonings like garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil. For authentic flavor, you can also add garlic butter, teriyaki sauce, and ginger.
