Experience your favorite Japanese steakhouse restaurant as you fire up your own griddle and flip the Blackstone Hibachi Shrimp with the griddle spatula.  This recipe for griddle shrimp is the BEST and is prepared with only 4 ingredients. 

A shrimp recipe that does not include soy sauce, lemon juice, rice vinegar, or teriyaki sauce. It’s a simple griddle recipe that can also be served with stir fried veggies, hibachi chicken and hibachi steak.

What is Hibachi Shrimp?

This delicious Hibachi Shrimp is a popular dish often served at Japanese restaurants.  “Hibachi” refers to the traditional Japanese technique of cooking on an open iron flat top griddle. 

It’s fiery cooking method that gives Blackstone Hibachi Shrimp its signature tender deliciousness!  Hibachi-style cooking typically involves skilled chefs who perform a theatrical cooking show at your table, complete with dazzling knife tricks and griddle spatula food-flipping antics. 

While replicating the theatrical aspects at home might be a challenge, you can certainly capture the essence of the dish by following my step-by-step cooking guide. 

Blackstone Griddle

My choice of flat top griddle is a Blackstone Griddle. Pick from a gas griddle or an electric griddle. They come in various sizes, accessories, and options. Griddle Shrimp Ingredients

  • Raw Shrimp – Peeled and De-veined
  • Olive Oil with Minced Garlic and Parmesan Cheese
  • Salt
  • Pepper

How to Make Hibachi Shrimp on the Blackstone

Prepare the Shrimp:  If using frozen raw shrimp, thaw in running cold water.  Make sure each shrimp is cleaned properly by checking for peelings and making sure it’s deveined correctly.  Dry the shrimp before placing on to the hot griddle.

Heat the Griddle:  Preheat the griddle to medium heat.  Once hot, add about 1 tablespoon of the garlic parmesan olive oil to the griddle. 

Sauté the Shrimp:  Add the cleaned shrimp to the hot oiled griddle in a single layer.  Season the Blackstone shrimp with freshly ground salt and pepper to taste.  Add more of the flavored olive oil if needed.  Cook for 1-2 minutes on each side until they turn pink and slightly browned flipping halfway through cooking. 

Take off the Griddle:  Remove the cooked shrimp from the griddle and serve with your favorite side dish.  My hibachi shrimp recipe can be garnished with a sprinkle of sesame seeds or sliced onions for a little extra crunch and flavor. Serve immediately with a hibachi sauce such as yum yum sauce, ginger sauce, or white sauce.

What to Serve with Hibachi Shrimp

When making griddle shrimp, pair it with other griddle recipes to make a complete meal in just a few short minutes. 

Serve hibachi shrimp with griddle broccoli, fried rice, smashed potatoes, and yellow beans.  For non-griddle recipes try this plain white rice recipe, and smoked hasselback potaotes.

How to Store Leftover Sautéed Shrimp

This shrimp is best served from a hot griddle. This meal can be stored in a refrigerator in an airtight container for three days.

Just microwave or heat a little in a pot on the stove for a few  seconds.  I never recommend freezing because the shrimp will become tough and rubbery.

Yes, you can use frozen raw shrimp, but be sure to thaw them properly before cooking.  Thaw in a container with cold water running in it.

  • Olive Oil with Minced Garlic and Parmesan Cheese 2 tablespoons
  • Salt 1/2 teaspoon
  • Pepper 1/4 teaspoon
