Use low sodium soy sauce instead of the regular soy sauce to help reduce the salt intake. Mix and match any of the vegetables from the list or you can even use a bag of frozen stir fry vegetables.

I like to keep a bag of frozen vegetables in the freezer for when I want to make a quick meal with very little prep.

Shrimp Stir Fry with Rice

If serving white rice with your stir fry recipe, prepare the rice ahead of time and set aside. Make your own rice recipe or try my recipe.

I make white rice a little different than most people make rice because I don’t like sticky rice!! This rice is a non-starchy, fluffy rice.

TIP: To make 3 cups of cooked rice, you will want 1cup of long grain dry white rice.

Start by bring a large stock pot of water to boil over medium heat and add about 1 teaspoon of table salt. When the salt water is boiling, add the rice to the water.

Stir to combine the rice. Cook the rice until it is tender making sure to stir so the rice does not stick to the bottom.

Taste the rice periodically to see if it’s done. Rice cooking times will vary so make sure not to overcook it resulting in a mushy white grains.

Drain the water off using a small hole colander. Next, rinse the drained rice with cold water to stop the cooking process and remove all the starchy water.

When all the water is drained off, place the rice into an airtight storage container until ready to use.

How to Make Shrimp Stir Fry on the Blackstone

Learn how to make Blackstone shrimp stir fry with my easy step by step instructions.  Gather all your ingredients to make the stir fry shrimp.

Preheat the Blackstone Griddle to medium heat. Set the dial of a Blackstone Electric Griddle to 400°F.

Wash and precut all your stir fry vegetables into bite-sized pieces and place into a bowl.  Use thawed, raw, peeled, deveined, and tails off shrimp and place in a bowl.

Make sure to double check the shrimp for shells and poop veins before use.  I prefer to use the smaller shrimp for this recipe, but any size will work.

Prepare the stir fry sauce by combining the soy sauce (you can use low sodium soy sauce), honey, and water in a small bowl.

Mix the honey into the rest of the mixture. Combine the corn starch and cold water together in another bowl.

How to Cook Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry

Once the Blackstone Griddle is preheated, oil the top of the flat top with olive oil or your favorite oil.  On the oiled griddle, place the assortment of chopped vegetable pieces of choice.

Season the vegetables with salt and pepper. You may want to add vegetables in stages if you have “hard” vegetables verses “soft” vegetables.

I usually just add them all at once but make sure to cut the hard vegetables in smaller pieces than the soft ones. Toss vegetables with a griddle spatula to help them cook evenly.

Squirt the vegetables and griddle with water and cover with a dome lid.  Cooking times will vary but you do not want to cook the stir fry vegetables too much or they will turn to mush.

You will cook them a little longer when adding the shrimp and creating the stir fry sauce. After the vegetables have steamed cooked for about 5 minutes, remove the dome lid, and stir to combine.

Add shrimp and minced garlic to the vegetable pile.  Toss all the ingredients together.

Some Blackstone griddlers like to create their stir fry recipes right on the flat top, which is fine, but I like to have my shrimp and vegetables dripping in the savory stir fry sauce.

Add the sautéed shrimp and vegetables to a large metal bowl.  I prepare the rest of the shrimp stir fry recipe in a medal bowl on the flat top griddle which creates the wok affect.

Stir Fry Sauce Recipe

Use the homemade stir fry sauce which is equal parts water, honey, and soy sauce to make the first part of the sauce recipe.  Make sure to mix the honey (which settles in the bottom) into the sauce mixture.

Mix the water and the corn starch together in another bowl which is going to be the slurry. Add the shrimp and vegetables to a large metal bowl.

TIP: Remember, when shrimp turns pink it’s done. Do not overcook the shrimp as it will turn tough and rubbery.

Pour the homemade stir fry sauce into the cooked vegetables and shrimp. Stir to combine all together and bring the liquid to a boil.

Add the slurry (cornstarch and water mixture) to all the ingredients in the bowl and gently stir to combine. The sauce thickens as it cooks which is only a couple minutes.

TIP: If after cooking about 5 minutes and the sauce is not as thick as you like it, make some more of the slurry (corn starch and water mixture), and slowly pour in until the desired thickness is achieved.

Remember that the stir fry sauce thickens as it cools down a bit. Serve the easy shrimp stir fry recipe hot over your favorite cooked rice.

Tips For the Best Stir-Fry

– Although this recipe seems straight forward, it has several things that should be considered before making it the most delicious garlic shrimp stir-fry.

– Is the stir fry sauce too thick? Add a little bit more water while it is still cooking until the desired thickness is achieved.

– The stir fry sauce not thick enough for you? Make some more corn starch slurry and slowly pour into the sauce until the desired thickness is achieved.

How to Store Stir Fry Shrimp

Leftover shrimp stir fry with vegetables tastes awesome the next day. A lot of people like to make an extra-large batch of shrimp stir fry so that they can have plenty of leftovers to eat during the week.

Just make sure to keep the rice separate from the stir fry mixture. Store the rice in an airtight container and store the cooled stir fry in another airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 6 days.

Reheat in the microwave using 30 second intervals until hot.
