What Kind of Bacon is Used?

Bacon is a very important part of the bacon egg cheese McMuffin sandwich.  Freshly cooked bacon is best.

You can use regular bacon, thick cut bacon, or flavored bacon.  Cooking bacon on the Blackstone Griddle is super easy to do and the flavor is incredible.

Do you like crispy bacon, turkey bacon, or just barely cooked bacon? When cooking your own, you get to choose what you like.

You can save the bacon grease or discard. If desired, you can even use precooked bacon and just warm up before using.

Can I use a different kind of bread for this sandwich?

Yes, you can use different kinds of bread for this sandwich, but it will change the flavor a bit.  Any kind of bread is fine, just make sure it’s fresh and soft.

I like to eat breads like sour dough, bagel, ciabatta, and Italian.

Making the Perfect Egg Patty with Cheese

For the complete step-by-step on how to make the perfect fried eggs, check out my How to Make Egg Patties.  Prepare the egg patty using one of the 3 cooking methods depending on your desired egg preference.

The 1st method is a fried egg patty, where the 2nd method is a scrambled egg patty, and the 3rd method is a fluffy egg patty.  I suggest using a silicone egg mold for all methods.

Lightly grease the preheated griddle surface with butter, oil, or cooking spray.  Place the round egg mold onto the hot greased surface.

Once the large egg is in the mold, sprinkle the top of the egg with a bit of salt and pepper. A sign that the egg is done when the patty stops jiggling and the eggs are not runny.

First Method for Cooking Egg Patty

1st method is just to crack the egg into the egg ring, break the yolk so that you can swirl the egg white and yolk together slightly.  Let the egg patty cook until firm and no longer runny, remove the egg ring, and flip over to cook longer.

Before taking off the hot griddle, place a slice of American cheese on the egg patty to melt.  Remove the egg and cheese patty when done.

Second Method for Cooking Egg Patty

The 2nd method is to break the egg into a bowl and use a fork to scramble the egg until well combined.  Then pour into the mold, cook until firm, remove the ring, and flip if desired.

Add a slice of American cheese and let melt on top of the egg.  Set aside until ready to assemble the bacon egg and cheese sandwich recipe.

Third Method for Cooking Egg Patty

The 3rd method is to break the egg into a small bowl.  Add a splash of heavy whipping cream and with a fork scramble together until just combined.

After the egg mold has been placed onto the buttered griddle, pour the egg mixture into it.  Cook until the egg ingredients are set and flip to cook the other side of the egg patty.

Next, place a slice of cheese on top of the fluffy egg to melt.  Remove from the griddle when the egg and cheese patty is done.

How to Make a Bacon Egg and Cheese Sandwich on a Blackstone Griddle

Preheat the Blackstone Griddle flat top on low or medium low heat.  I recommend not using too high of heat as the eggs will cook too quickly.

If using the Electric Blackstone griddle e-series, set the temperature settings to 400°F.  Gather the bacon sandwich ingredients.

Cook the bacon strips on the griddle.  Once the bacon is cooked on the first side, flip the bacon strips over and cook the second side until golden brown.

When the bacon is fully cooked, place on a paper towel lined plate to help soak up any excess grease.  Next, cut the English muffin in half along the pre-cut line.

If desired, lightly butter the insides of the English muffin and cook on the hot griddle until you have toasted bread.  A freshly toasted muffin will take your sandwich to another level.

Assemble the Bacon Egg McMuffin

You will be making your bacon cheese egg sandwich in layers.  Place the bottom piece of the toasted English muffin first on your work surface.

Add the cooked egg patty with the melted American cheese, then the cooked bacon pieces, and put the second piece of the English muffin on top. Serve hot with your favorite sides.

How to Make a Bacon Egg and Cheese Sandwich on the Stove

If you don’t own a Blackstone Flat Top Griddle, that’s okay.  Use a large nonstick skillet pan or a cast iron skillet on the kitchen stove over medium heat.

Cook the bacon egg and cheese sandwich as described above but do it in stages if need due to size restraints of the skillet pan.  Assemble the bacon cheese and egg sandwich in layers starting with the bottom muffin, egg, cheese, bacon, and finally the English muffin top.

Store in an airtight container and place in the refrigerator for up to 6 days.  When ready to eat, reheat in the microwave for 30 second intervals.

You can also warm up in the air fryer or on the Blackstone Griddle with a dome lid until the desired temperature is reached.
