Crispy sweet potato fries have become my favorite side dish.  I like mine cooked, so they start to get burnt on the tips.

When eating in a restaurant once, a server bought me a fresh batch of sweet fries because she thought mine were too burnt.  They were perfect!!

I hate soggy sweet potato fries!  Thin and crispy is where they are at!!  Once you try these sweet potato fries, you will not want to go back to regular FF.

How to Fry Sweet Potato Fries on Blackstone Griddle

Gather all ingredients to fry your sweet potato fries.  Preheat the griddle to medium/high.

Place a disposable foil pan on your Blackstone griddle flat-top.  Fill the pan ½ full with your favorite frying oil.  Use a dome lid to help control the oil temperature.

I have used peanut oil for many years.  We have no peanut allergies in our family so that is not a concern for us.

Vegetable oil, clear frying oil, and canola oil all make great frying options.  This recipe is made with frozen Alexia frozen sweet potato fries.

Make sure not to overcrowd the frying oil.  Fry in batches when needed.

I like to use a metal frying spoon to remove the fully cooked fries.  Before you start cooking, have a paper towel lined pan/plate to put the fried sweet potato fries on when they are done.

Use a digital thermometer to keep the oil at the right temperature because the oil temperature is very important.  When the oil reaches 375° F, carefully drop the frozen sweet potato fries into the hot grease making sure not to splash yourself with any of the oil.

DO NOT ADD TO MANY SWEET POTATO FRIES!!  When you put the sweet fries into the oil, the temperature of the grease will drop.

Adjust the temperature of the griddle being careful not to get the oil too hot.  The best thing is to not overcrowd the oil by adding to many frozen sweet potato fries.

How Long to Deep Fry Sweet Potato Fries?

The best way to tell when sweet potato fries are done is when they float on top of the oil.

Frying time is going to vary depending on the size of the frozen sweet potato fry, how many fries you are cooking together, temperature of the oil during the whole cooking time and how crispy you want the finished sweet fries.

I fry mine between 2 – 5 minutes.  The secret to a crispy sweet potato fry is correct oil temperature, not overcrowding the oil and making sure to cook the fries long enough.

Place the cooked sweet fries onto a paper towel lined plate.

Dip for Sweet Potato Fries

Sweet Potato Fries pair well with dip.  I love ranch dip when eating my crispy sweet fries.

You may like to try different flavors of dip.  Here are a few great dip options for you to try.

Fry Sweet Potato Fries – FAQ

Calories in Sweet Potato Fries?

The calories in sweet potato fries are 140 per 3 ounce serving.

Why Are My Fried Sweet Potato Fries Soggy?

Soggy sweet potato fries can be caused from a few different things.  Having the wrong oil temperature will create a soggy fry.  The oil temperature should be at 375°F.  Make sure to use a digital thermometer.  Trying to cook to many sweet potato fries and overcrowding the oil will lower the temperature, creating a soggy sweet fry.  Another reason might be if there are ice crystals built up on the frozen sweet potato fries and you drop them into the hot oil.  Make sure to bump the ice crystals off the sweet fries before putting them into the hot grease.

What Do You Eat with Sweet Potato Fries?

I like to eat pulled pork grilled cheese sandwiches, smash burgers, chicken kabobs, griddle chicken breast and breaded turkey cutlets.  Sweet potato fries make the perfect side dish for just about anything.
