If you’re looking for an easy vegetable side dish that comes together in minutes, this Garlic Butter Asparagus on Griddle recipe is one of my favorites. Every spring, I look forward to fresh local asparagus season here in Michigan.
There’s nothing quite like cooking freshly harvested asparagus on the Blackstone Griddle and getting those perfectly charred stalks with a tender bite. This griddle asparagus recipe uses just a handful of ingredients, but it delivers incredible flavor.
I season the asparagus with avocado oil, Blackstone Garlic Butter Seasoning, salt, and pepper while cooking it on the hot griddle. One of my favorite tricks is to add a little water and cover the asparagus with a dome lid to steam cook it for a few minutes.
The steam helps the asparagus become tender while still allowing it to develop those delicious, browned edges that make asparagus on a Blackstone Griddle so irresistible.
Whether you’re serving steak, chicken, seafood, or smash burgers, this easy asparagus side dish pairs perfectly with just about any meal.

How to Make Garlic Butter Asparagus on Griddle
Learning how to cook asparagus on a griddle is incredibly simple. Start by washing the asparagus and trimming off the tough woody ends.
Preheat your Blackstone Griddle to medium heat. Once hot, spread the asparagus in a single layer on the cooking surface. Drizzle the asparagus with avocado oil and roll to coat the stalks. Sprinkle with the Garlic Butter Seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Allow the asparagus to cook undisturbed for several minutes so the stalks begin to develop a golden-brown char.
Turn the asparagus occasionally to ensure even cooking. After several minutes, squirt a small amount of water around the asparagus and immediately cover with a dome lid. The trapped steam helps cook the inside of the asparagus while keeping it tender.
Remove the dome after 2 to 3 minutes and continue cooking until the water evaporates. Allow the asparagus to remain on the griddle long enough to develop additional charred spots and caramelization.
If desired, add a little butter and fresh garlic during the final minute of cooking for even more flavor. Serve immediately while hot.
What to Serve with Garlic Butter Asparagus
This asparagus on griddle recipe pairs beautifully with many main dishes. Some of my favorite options include griddled steak, garlic butter chicken, Blackstone shrimp, fried pork chops, smashed burgers, and fried rice. It also works wonderfully alongside baked potatoes, roasted potatoes, or a fresh garden salad.
Because asparagus cooks so quickly, it’s the perfect side dish to prepare while the rest of your meal finishes cooking.
