The Potatoes

You can shred your own potatoes, but I like to keep it simple.  My hash brown recipe is made with fresh Simply Potatoes Shredded Hash Browns.

I have used dried hash browns and frozen hash browns, but I like how the fresh hash browns cook, taste, and look.

How to Make Crispy Hash Browns

Gather all your ingredients to make the hash brown recipe.  There is only 4 ingredients needed, you got this!!

Preheat the Griddle:  Fire up your Blackstone Griddle and let it reach the perfect medium-high heat.  If using an electric griddle, set the dial to 450°F.  A well-preheated griddle surface ensures those hash browns get that irresistible crispy exterior.

Oil Up:  Drizzle a generous amount of oil (vegetable or olive oil works well) on the griddle.  Spread it evenly to create a non-stick surface and helps to achieve a crispy exterior.

Spread Out:  Place a mound of the shredded potatoes onto the hot greased griddle.  Use your griddle spatula to spread out and flatten them slightly to make as much contact to the hot griddle as you can.  The thinner the layer of shredded hash browns are, the crispier you can get them.  Let cook without moving until they are golden-brown crispy.

Flip and Cook:  With the edge of your griddle spatula, cut the cooking hashbrowns into manageable pieces.  Flip each section when they develop a beautiful golden crust.

Serve Hot:  Once your hash browns are cooked to perfection, serve them hot and enjoy the irresistible combination of a crispy exterior and a tender interior.

What to Serve with Griddle Hash Browns

Pairing your Blackstone griddle hash browns with complementary dishes takes your breakfast to the next level.  Or add a few toppings such as ham, cheese, and veggies to the top and call them loaded hash browns.

Here are some delightful suggestions: griddle fried eggs, egg patties, ham, cheese, and mushroom omelette, sausage McMuffin with egg, scrambled egg sandwich, chocolate chip pancakes, and a cloud egg!

How to Store Leftover Hash Browns

Did you make too many griddle potatoes?  All though crispy hash browns are best served right off the griddle, they can still be served as leftovers or turned into another dish.

To reheat, place back on the preheated griddle with a thin layer of oil.  Heat until the desired temperature is reached.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use frozen hash browns on the Blackstone Griddle?

While fresh shredded potatoes yield the best results, you can still achieve delicious hash browns with frozen ones.  Ensure the griddle is hot, use a generous amount of oil to create a crispy golden-brown texture, and let the hash browns cook without flipping them too often.

How do I prevent my hash browns from sticking to the griddle?

A well-oiled griddle is key!  Make sure to generously coat the surface with oil before placing the hash browns and use extra oil after flipping them.

Can I make hash browns ahead of time?

Hash browns are best enjoyed fresh off the griddle, but you can partially cook them and finish them off just before serving for a convenient prep- ahead option.
