What is a Margherita Pizza?

A Margherita pizza has an airy bubbly crust.  It’s topped with a tomato pizza sauce, crushed tomatoes, or fresh slices of tomatoes that are gently smashed onto the pizza dough and sprinkled with seasonings.

If desired, drizzle some olive oil over the top along with minced fresh garlic. Then thick slices of a fresh mozzarella cheese log is placed on top of the pizza sauce.

Fresh green sweet basil leaves are then placed on top of all ingredients.  It’s cooked to perfection and then served with more fresh basil leaves.  A Margherita pizza recipe is a simple recipe with simple ingredients.
