Pizza Crust for Alfredo Chicken Pizza

When making your chicken Alfredo pizza, you have a couple of options for the pizza crust.

Buy a pre-baked naan bread crust, make your pizza dough from a packaged mix, buy store bought pizza dough, or make my homemade pizza dough recipe

My homemade dough recipe is best because it produces a nice airy crust.

How to Make Alfredo Sauce for Pizza

Once you learn the basics of making an Alfredo sauce pizza, you will want to make it again and again!!  Gather all the ingredients to make the Alfredo sauce.

Set the dial to medium heat when using a Blackstone Griddle or making it on the stove.  In a medium metal bowl or pan (on the stove), melt the butter.

Sprinkle the flour into the melted butter and whisk to combine until the roux is  smooth.  Cook for two minutes while continuously whisking to prevent burning on the bottom.

Start adding milk (a little at a time) as you continue whisking.  Don’t add too much milk at a time because it will make it harder to get the flour lumps out.

Shake the bottled grated parmesan cheese and whisk to combine as you continue cooking the Alfredo white sauce.  Add in the freshly grated parmesan cheese and whisk to combine.

I like to add both the Kraft grated parmesan cheese and the freshly grated parmesan cheese. The sauce will thicken from the roux and the cheese so you will want to add more milk too thin it out if needed.

Season the white Alfredo sauce with your favorite seasonings to your desired taste.  Make sure to taste your homemade sauce for flavor!

Add more parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, or milk if needed to reach the desired sauce consistency.  Remove from the heat and set aside until ready to spread on the pizza crust.

Griddle Chicken for Pizza

Use chicken breast, chicken tenders, or chicken breast pieces.  Season to taste with your favorite seasonings and place on a hot lightly greased preheated griddle or pan on the stove.

Cook for several minutes until browned and then flip over.  Top chicken with a dollop of garlic butter and cook until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.

Let the chicken rest for several minutes and then cut into small bite-sized pieces. For the complete recipe go to Griddle Butter Chicken

You can also use pre-cooked chicken. Shredded chicken, rotisserie chicken, or slow cooker chicken will work.

Pizza Oven Equipment List

If you are wondering what kind of tools that you will need to make your homemade pizza oven pizza, then check out my Blackstone Pizza Oven Accessories guide. Must have items are a good pizza peel, oven gloves, a wire rack, rolling pin, and a pizza rocker or pizza cutter.

Blackstone Pizza Oven

Gather all the ingredients to make the Chicken Alfredo pizza.  Preheat the Blackstone Pizza Oven on medium high heat with the temperature gauge reading at least 500°F.

Preheating the pizza oven will take about 10 to 15 minutes.  I like to cook the pizza directly on the hot pizza oven stone.

When using a pizza pan, you will not get as crispy of a pizza crust.  Using the desired amount of pizza dough, press out the crust.

A 4-ounce piece of flatbread dough will make about a 6 or 7-inch pizza.  Flour your hands or rolling pin to prevent sticking to the homemade dough.

I suggest making the pizza on top of the pizza peel or a board that you can pick up and slide onto the pizza peel.  Tip: Use corn meal under the pizza dough to prevent sticking and to help getting it in and out of the oven.

I have found that flour will burn and cause an unpleasant taste.  To get the pizza crust to the desired size, use the tips of your floured fingers to press the dough from the center outward.

For pizza crust with air bubbles, use your fingertips to press out the crust or stretch it as you hold it up in the air.  For a thinner crust, use a rolling pin which will result in very little air bubbles.

Adding the Pizza Toppings

Time to add the pizza toppings. Spread Alfredo sauce onto the pizza crust.  Add the diced chicken pieces on top of the Alfredo sauce.

Place on any fresh herbs or spinach leaves if desired.

How to Cook the Blackstone Pizza Oven Chicken Alfredo Pizza

Once the outdoor pizza oven temperature gauge (on the front of the Blackstone pizza oven) is between 500°F and 600°F, cook the pizza.

Use a good pizza peel to slide the freshly made homemade chicken Alfredo pizza onto the hot round pizza stone in the middle of the pizza oven.  Place the pizza oven door back on, if desired.

Cooking times will vary so watch your pizza closely.  Every 2 minutes, check the homemade Alfredo pizza.

Rotate the pizza, using the pizza peel, to cook evenly. Pizza cooking times will vary for every pizza oven.

Smaller homemade pizzas will cook in about 4 to 6 minutes.  A large homemade pizza will bake in less than 10 minutes.

When the pizza has a crisp golden-brown bottom crust and the mozzarella cheese is lightly browned and melted, remove from the pizza oven.

Oven and Blackstone Griddle Cooking Instructions

If you don’t have a Blackstone Griddle Pizza Oven, then you can still make them on the Blackstone Griddle or in an oven.  Place a baking stone on the griddle or in the oven and preheat at a high temperature.

On the griddle, use a dome lid to create an oven around the pizza as it cooks.  Cook until the pizza is done.

You can also use a pizza pan to cook your pizza, but the crust will not be as crispy as when you use a baking stone.

What to Serve with Alfredo Pizza

Now that you have made your Alfredo pizza, what should you serve with it? A fresh cucumber tomato onion salad or a kale salad recipe is a great choice. For dessert, try this amazing salted nut roll.

Make Alfredo Sauce for Pizza

  1. You can use jar Alfredo sauce or make homemade sauce.
  2. To make homemade sauce, gather all the ingredients to make the Alfredo sauce recipe.  You will want 2 tablespoons butter, 2 tablespoons flour, 1 cup milk, 1/4 cup bottled parmesan cheese, 2 tablespoons freshly grated parmesan cheese, and seasonings of your choice.
  3. Preheat the Blackstone Griddle to medium heat or make it on the stove.
  4. In a metal bowl (medium sized) or pan (on the stove), melt the butter.  Add the flour to the butter and whisk to combine until the mixture is  smooth.  Cook for two minutes while whisking constantly to prevent burning the roux.
  5. Start adding some of the milk as you continue whisking.  Don’t add too much milk at a time because it will create flour lumps.  Once the milk is added, shake some of the bottled grated parmesan cheese into the mixture and whisk to combine as you continue cooking the Alfredo white sauce.
  6. Then, add in the freshly grated parmesan cheese and stir to combine.  I like to add both the bottled grated parmesan cheese and the freshly grated parmesan cheese. The Alfredo sauce will thicken from the roux mixture and the cheese so you will want to add more milk too thin it out if needed.
  7. Season the Alfredo white sauce with your favorite seasonings to your desired taste.  Make sure to taste your freshly made sauce for flavor!  If needed, add more parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, or milk to reach the desired sauce consistency.  Remove from the heat. Set aside until ready to spread on the pizza crust.
