How to Make a Pulled Pork Pizza

Gather all the ingredients to make the shredded pork pizza.  Turn on and preheat the outdoor pizza oven on medium-to-medium high heat.

Preheating the pizza oven will take about 10 to 15 minutes so prepare accordingly.  I suggest cooking the homemade pizza directly on the hot pizza stone.

Sprinkle some corn meal on the pizza peel and press out the homemade pizza dough crust.  Lightly flour your fingertips or rolling pin to prevent sticking to the pizza dough if needed.

PRO TIP: Use a generous sprinkling of corn meal under the pizza dough to prevent sticking and to help getting it in and out of the pizza oven.

To get the pizza crust to the desired size, use floured fingertips to press the dough from the center outward.  For a fluffier crust, only use your fingertips.

For a thinner crust,  use a floured rolling pin.  Spread a thin layer of your desired pizza sauce on top of the pizza dough crust.

Sprinkle a thin layer of shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the pizza sauce.  Add a generous layer of shredded pulled pork and then top with more shredded cheese.  If desired, top the pulled pork pizza with rings of bell peppers.

How to Cook a Pulled Pork Pizza

When the Blackstone pizza oven temperature gauge is between 450°F and 650°F, cook the pizza.  Use the pizza peel to slide the freshly made shredded pork pizza to the back of the pizza oven.

If desired, place the pizza oven door back on to help keep the heat in.  Every couple of minutes, check the pulled pork pizza.

Use the pizza peel to rotate the pork pizza on the pizza stone to help it cook evenly.  Cook time will vary for all pizza ovens.

Smaller homemade pizzas will cook in about 4 to 6 minutes.  A large homemade pizza will cook in about 10 minutes.

When the pulled pork pizza has a crispy golden-brown bottom crust and the melted mozzarella cheese is browned, remove from the pizza oven with the pizza peel.  Make sure the center of the pizza is fully cooked.

Instructions

How to Make Pulled Pork Pizza Recipe

  1. Gather all the ingredients to make your pulled pork pizza.
  2. Next, preheat the Blackstone pizza oven to medium high heat between 450°F and 650°F.  TIP: it will take about 10 to 15 minutes to heat up the oven.
  3. It is best to cook the pulled pork pizza directly on the hot pizza stone and not use a pizza pan.  Use corn meal on the pizza peel to press out the pizza dough.  Flour your fingertips to prevent sticking to the pizza dough.  You want to make sure to prepare the homemade pizza on top of the pizza peel, to move the pizza easily into the pizza oven.
  4. Start with a dough and use your fingertips to press it out.  Stretch the pizza dough by grabbing two sides of it and lifting in the air and letting gravity gently stretch it out.  Sprinkle more corn meal under the freshly pressed out pizza dough to prevent sticking and to help getting it in and out of the pizza oven. If using a rolling pin, it will create a thinner, crispier pizza crust.
  5. Spread an even layer of pizza tomato sauce on top of the pressed-out unbaked pizza crust.
  6. Sprinkle a thin layer of shredded mozzarella cheese log on top of the pizza sauce.  Place the shredded pulled pork to the top of the pizza cheese.  Add more shredded mozzarella cheese and a couple bell pepper rings.

How to Cook the Blackstone Pulled Pork Pizza

  1. Once the Blackstone pizza oven is preheated to between 450°F and 650°F, cook the pizza.  Use the pizza peel to slide the freshly made pizza to the back of the oven.
  2. Every few minutes, check the baking pizza.  The pizzas will bake very quickly. Carefully, use the pizza peel to rotate the pizza (about halfway through baking) on the baking stone to cook evenly.  Cooking times will vary for every homemade pizza oven so make sure to check often.  A smaller pulled pork pizza will bake in 4 to 6 minutes.  Larger pizzas will bake in under 10 minutes.
  3. When the mozzarella cheese is crispy brown and melted, remove from the pizza oven with the pizza peel.
  4. Place the delicious pulled pork pizza on a cutting board to cut into pieces using a pizza rocker or a pizza cutter.  Garnish the Blackstone pizza with a drizzling of your favorite BBQ sauce.
  5. Serve the freshly baked pizza hot. Eat the BBQ pulled pork pizza with homemade bread sticks, a side salad, or your favorite cocktail.
