Ingredients for Pulled Pork Salad

  • Salad Greens – Pick your favorite – Romaine, Iceberg, Spinach, and Spring Mix
  • Pulled Pork – Leftover Pulled Pork, Smoked Pork, or Slow Cooked Pulled Pork
  • Shredded Colby Jack Cheese, Cheddar Cheese, Cotija Cheese or Crumbled Feta
  • Toppings of Your Choice: Diced Tomatoes, Sliced Onions, Corn Salsa, a Drizzle of Sour Cream, or BBQ Sauce

Pork for Pulled Pork Salad

Make a fresh salad with leftover pulled pork.  Shredded pork can be cooked in several different ways, so pick the best option for you. 

My favorite is this smoked pulled pork recipe!!  But another great option is my Instant Pot pulled pork recipe which is slow cooked to perfection. 

My favorite thing to do is to make pulled pork and then use the leftover pork to create many different recipes such as a pulled pork sandwich. I also like to get leftover pulled pork from family gatherings. 

But if you don’t have time to make pulled pork, then use the store-bought pulled pork.  Find it in the deli section or the meat section of your local grocery shopping store.

How to Make a Pulled Pork Salad

1.     Prepare the Pulled Pork: If you are making your pulled pork, slow cook a pork butt, Boston butt, or pork shoulder roast with your desired seasonings until it’s tender and easy to shred.  Or store-bought shredded pork can be used. 

2.     Assemble the Salad: Start by layering down a bed of crunchy lettuce greens on a salad plate or salad bowl.  This forms the base of your salad.

3.     Add the Pulled Pork:  Generously pile the shredded pulled pork on top of the mixed greens.  You can use warm, cold, or room temperature pork.  The contrast of the hot pork and cold salad ingredients is a delightful touch. 

4.     Layer the Vegetables: Arrange an assortment of your choice of vegetables on top of the mixed greens.  Feel free to get creative with several veggies you love. 

5.     Sprinkle a Layer of Cheese: Add a layer of your choice of shredded or crumbled cheese over the greens for an extra layer of flavor. 

6.     Dress It Up: Drizzle your favorite salad dressing or a squirt of sour cream over the top.  Feel free to get creative with your dressing choices.

Yes, assemble your salad with your desired toppings with the exception of the ingredients that don’t store very well. 

Shredded cheese, croutons, and the dressing are items that don’t store very well.  Place them in separate bags/containers and add them to the salad right before serving. 

How to Store a Pulled Pork Salad

Store the salad and dressing separately in airtight containers to prevent the greens from becoming soggy. 

Place them both in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.  When ready to serve, add the dressing right before serving to maintain the salad’s crispness.

  1. Yum, what a nice idea for a summer salad, I like your suggestion of using a raspberry vinaigrette as the dressing. I love that flavor.

  2. My kids love pulled pork!! It is one of the few meats that they all eat without any complaints.
    So I am always making big batches up for them to stuff into sandwiches, rolls or wraps.
    But I have never though to make myself a salad with it!!!
    This was delicious, really flavorful but so simple to make 🙂
