Ham and Cheese Sliders stacked on a wooden borad.

My family likes when I make a variety of different slider recipes, so they have plenty to choose from.  They are satisfying and hit the spot with its layers of juicy ham and melted Swiss cheese.

It’s a great way to use your leftover Easter ham that is sliced super thin instead of deli ham.  Pair with a few side dishes to create a complete meal.

Enjoy sliders for a game day gathering, Super Bowl party, a simple family dinner, or a casual get-together with friends. You can even make a sliders bar and offer an assortment of different toppings and sides.

How to Make Ham and Cheese  Sliders

In the Blackstone Pizza Oven

Preheat the Blackstone Pizza Oven:  Set the dials to medium heat and give it at least 5 minutes to heat up.  Melt the seasoned butter.

Prepare the Sliders:  Use a pizza pan to build your sandwich on.  Cut the Hawaiian rolls in half through the middle.  Place the bread, cut side up on the pizza pan.  On the bottom side of the rolls, place several layers of the deli ham.  Add slices of cheese on top of the stacked ham.

Cook the Sliders:  Place the whole pizza pan into the hot pizza oven.  Watch closely because the ham sliders will cook quickly.  Rotate the pan halfway through cooking.  Remove the pan from the pizza oven with a pizza peel or use oven gloves.

Butter the Rolls:  Stack the top slab of rolls onto the bottom.  Use a pastry brush to apply a generous layer of the melted seasoned butter on top of the rolls.  Place back into the pizza oven to crisp the top up.

Serve with Toppings:  Place the prepared hot ham and cheese sliders onto a cutting board.  Using a kitchen knife, cut the sliders into your desired size.  Transfer to a serving tray along with the toppings of your choice.  Don’t forget an assortment of condiments.

Ham Sliders on a Blackstone Griddle

Preheat the Blackstone Griddle:  If using a gas Blackstone Griddle, preheat it to medium low heat or set an electric Blackstone Griddle to 300°F.  Melt the seasoned butter in a metal bowl on top of the griddle as it heats up.

Sliders Prep:  Slice the Hawaiian sweet rolls in half horizontally, keeping them connected.  Spread a thin layer of the melted seasoned butter using a pastry brush over the front and backs of each slab of rolls.

Start Griddle Cooking:  Place the buttered rolls onto the hot griddle so the cut side is up.  Cook until they are lightly golden-brown.  Using a griddle spatula, flip each slab of rolls over.  Cook that side until it’s golden-brown.  Flip again and place slices of the cheese onto the warm toasted cut sides.  On the bottom slab, layer the thinly sliced ham on top of the melting cheese.  Cover with a dome lid to help heat faster.

Assemble the Ham Sliders:  When the sliders are fully cooked, place the top half of the rolls over the ham and cheese to close the sliders.  Remove from the griddle and place onto a cutting board.  Cut into your desired serving size.  Place ham cheese sliders onto a serving tray.
