Apple Crisp Ingredients

  • Baking Apples
  • Sugar, Granulated
  • Cinnamon, Ground
  • Kraft Minute Tapioca
  • Granola Crumbs

How to Make Skillet Apple Crisp

Preheat the Griddle: Preheat your Blackstone Griddle to medium heat.

Prepare the Apple Crisp Filling:  Peel, core, and slice the apples.  Place the sliced apples in a large bowl.  Add the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and the Kraft Minute Tapioca to the top of the apples.  Stir to evenly coat the apple slices.

Assemble the Apple Crisp:  Lightly grease the small 8-inch cast iron skillet.  Spread the prepared apple slices into the cast iron skillet in an even layer.

Crumb Topping:  For a simple topping just sprinkle the granola crumbs evenly on top of the sliced apples.  To add a little more flavor to your topping, combine 2 tablespoons of melted butter along with a dash of ground cinnamon.  Stir to combine and spread over the apples.

Cook the Apple Crisp:  Add a sheet of parchment paper to the griddle.  Place the prepared cast iron skillet pan onto the hot griddle.  Cover the skillet with a dome lid to help create an oven affect around the apple crisp.  Cook for 30 minutes and test for doneness of the apples.

Serve Warm:  Carefully, remove the skillet from the griddle using a hot pad.  Serve the Skillet Apple Crisp warm, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for extra indulgence.

How to Store Apple Crisp

If you have any leftover crisp, remove from the cast iron skillet and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 6 days.  Serve leftover apple crisp cold or warm up in the microwave for 30 – 60 seconds.

Can You Make a Skillet Apple Crisp without a Blackstone Griddle?

Yes, you can make a cast iron skillet apple crisp in a regular oven.  Simply follow the same recipe instructions on how to prepare your crisp recipe.

Instead of preheating the Blackstone Griddle, preheat your oven to 350°F.  Bake the crisp for 30 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.
