Once the griddle is hot, one by one, place the slices of bacon so they are close together.  Let the bacon cook without touching it until it turns golden brown on the one side.

Some might like crispy bacon and some like limp bacon.  As the bacon is cooking, on a separate part of the griddle, toast the bread on both sides until it’s golden brown.

Do not spread the bread with butter or grease the griddle at all.  You want the bread to just be toasted.

Remove the toast when both sides are toasted.  Take layers of paper towels and place on a plate.

Once the bacon is cooked to your liking, transfer to the paper towel lined plate to help soak up the excess grease.

How to Build a BLT Sandwich

When the bacon is cooked and semi-warm.  It’s time to build your sandwich.  You can choose to build two slices of bread sandwich or a three sliced bread sandwich.

I am showing you how to make a triple decker classic BLT sandwich.  Spread mayo on the top of all three slices of your toasted bread.

Start with one slice of bread with the mayo side up.  Add 3 to 4 pieces of the bacon strips.  If you need to break the bacon to fit your slice of bread, then feel free.

Top the bacon with a layer of your favorite leafy greens.  Then add a layer of sliced tomatoes.

Repeat all those layers again, mayo topped toast, bacon, lettuce, and sliced tomatoes.  Finally, add the last slice of bread so that the mayo side is down.

How to Cut a Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato Sandwich

Learn how to cut a bacon lettuce tomato sandwich, the fancy way.  After you have built your best BLT sandwich you can serve it as is or you can learn how to cut it to display all of the wonderful insides.

Start by imagining that you have a square shape on the top of your sandwich.  Place wooden toothpicks in each of the four SIDES, right in the middle, of that square side.

I like to use toothpicks with the different colored frilly ends.  Make sure that the toothpicks are not right on the edge of the sandwich, but just a little bit closer to the center.

The toothpick should be all the way through the sandwich but make sure they are long enough to stick out the top.  Using a kitchen knife, cut the sandwich by cutting from one corner to the opposite corner.

Then cut the second corner to the opposite corner.  You should have four triangle shaped pieces of your Blackstone BLT sandwich with a toothpick in the center of each that is holding them all together.

Finally, flip two of the triangle pieces (one in each hand) on its side so that the crust of the sandwich is right up against your board.  Slide the two pieces together and push each toothpick a little bit so that they poke into each opposite triangle sandwich pieces.

Make sure that you still have some of the toothpick sticking out each end so that whoever is eating it knows that the toothpicks are there.  Repeat this process with the last two triangle pieces.

You should end up with two long triangle pieces of a delicious BLT sandwich showing off all the pretty layers.  If any ingredients happen to fall out while you are assembling your classic BLT sandwich, just stuff them in wherever appropriate.

How to Serve a BLT

Pick your desired serving platter or plate.  Place one of the BLT strips on the plate.

Add the other sandwich strip at an angle on top of the first piece.  Serve with your desired side dish such as potato chips or make some of my Blackstone French fries or Blackstone Sweet Potato Fries

Blackstone BLT Sandwich – FAQ

What order do you layer a BLT?

Many people wonder how to layer their Blackstone BLT.  The truth is, you can layer your bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich, any way that you want.  This is the order that I learned when working in a professional restaurant kitchen.  Start with toasted bread that has a smear of mayo.  Add a layer of cooked bacon, lettuce, sliced tomato, another piece of toast with a layer of mayo, another layer of bacon, lettuce, and sliced tomato.  Then topped with the last piece of toasted bread that has a layer of mayo and is facing toward the tomatoes.  Serve whole, cut in half, or cut in triangle shapes.

How do you make a BLT that doesn’t fall apart?

To help hold your amazing BLT all together, use several toothpicks.  Make sure you use whole slices of bacon and whole pieces of lettuce.  It also helps to use large, firm tomatoes that are sliced on the thick side.
