This bacon aioli recipe is a wonderful and surprisingly, delicious condiment! And it’s easy to make– I promise!

I prefer my own salty bacon mayo topping for my burgers and sandwiches. Bacon is always on my mind!

I love adding sweetness, smokiness, and a slight crunch to my favorite mayo to pep up my meal.  This recipe is all handmade with only 3 simple ingredients.

It’s low-carb, dairy free, and tastes great. Bacon aioli is an incredibly tasty dip that includes the bacon and contains pantry staples like mayonnaise, and your favorite seasonings.

Baconnaise

Have you ever heard of Baconnaise?  It’s a store-bought mayo spread that is bacon flavored.  According to Wikipedia, this bacon mayonnaise was invented in November of 2008 by Justin Esch and Dave Lefkow.  You can buy Baconnaise from Amazon.

What is Aioli?

It’s a fancy word for mayo!  Aioli sauce was originally created using garlic, salt, olive oil and egg yolks to make it rich. First to be thought of as a homemade mayonnaise. It has since evolved into mixing ingredients into store bought mayo or homemade mayonnaise creating a flavored aioli.

Making Aioli with real Bacon Pieces

I prefer to make this bacon aioli recipe with real bacon pieces because it has great flavor.  If you would like to save time on cooking your bacon, you can buy the pre-cooked bacon or use the real bacon bits that come in little pouches.

It is rich and has bacon flavor from the sliced bits that are added. Check out our favorite homemade aioli sauce for a 5-minute condiment.

What is Bacon Aioli Made of?

This bacon mayonnaise is made with very simple ingredients that you can make in a matter of a couple minutes.  Your favorite store-bought mayo ( I like Miracle Whip), bacon pieces, and your favorite seasonings such as salt and pepper.

I like to keep this Miracle Whip recipe simple!  It’s a simple recipe, and it will take your dish to the next level.  This creamy bacon mayonnaise is the perfect topping for almost everything.

Easy and simple to make with a couple tips. My bacon aioli sauce has a creamy, flavored spread that can be used on burger sandwiches or as a dip in fries.

How to Make Bacon Aioli

Preheat your Blackstone Griddle to medium heat or your electric Blackstone Griddle to 400°F.  You will want to fry the bacon until semi-crispy.

Drain the bacon pieces on a paper-towel lined plate.  Cut the bacon strips into small pieces.  No need to reserve any of the bacon grease.

Gather all your ingredients to make the bacon aioli with the chopped bacon.  Combine all the ingredients into a bowl. Stir together until smooth and creamy.

Check the flavor of the bacon aioli and add more salt or a splash of lemon juice if needed. Serve the bacon aioli right away or keep cold until ready to serve.

Tips for making aioli

  • Slice up bacon into small pieces before frying. This makes bacon cooking faster and evenly.
  • Want to add another layer of flavor?  Use peppered bacon, maple bacon, or try turkey bacon.
  • Use your favorite store-bought mayonnaise such as Miracle Whip, Hellmann’s, Kraft, or the store brand.
  • No need to mix in a food processor because you want little crunchy bits of bacon in the condiment.

How to Store Bacon Aioli

Store in an airtight container and refrigerate for 6 days.

What about freezing aioli’s? I do not recommend freezing at all. Bacon aioli sauce does not freeze well, and frozen mayonnaise may turn watery.

Aioli Add-Ins

Minced Garlic – Roasted is a good option.

Lemon Juice or Lime Juice (Fresh lemon juice is best but you can use bottle lemon juice if needed).

Smoke Paprika

A Dash of Sugar

Bacon Aioli – Frequently Asked Questions

Are aioli’s prepared in advance?

Yeah! The taste is even stronger the next day.

Is aioli just mayonnaise?

Aioli is a fancy word for homemade mayonnaise.  Restaurants like to use the word aioli on their menus instead of mayo because it elevates the dish, and they can charge more for what they sell.  Aioli has evolved over the years to mean a flavored mayo whether the mayonnaise is store-bought or homemade.
