Griddle Sausage Patties

Making homemade sausage patties on the Blackstone Griddle is one of the easiest ways to create a hearty and delicious breakfast. Instead of buying pre-formed breakfast sausage patties, I like to use sausage rolls and form my own sausage patty shapes. This lets me control the size, thickness, and freshness while cooking them perfectly on the griddle.

Whether you serve them with pancakes, eggs, or on breakfast sandwiches, these juicy patties are always a family favorite. One of my personal favorite ways to enjoy them is dipping them in warm maple syrup for that perfect sweet and savory combination.

Why Make Your Own Breakfast Sausage Patties?

Using sausage rolls instead of pre-made patties gives you more flexibility. You can make large patties for sandwiches or smaller ones for a breakfast platter. Fresh formed patties also tend to cook more evenly and stay juicy when cooked on a flat top griddle like a Blackstone.

Another benefit is that you can easily portion them if you are watching your sausage patty calories or trying to control serving sizes.

How to Cook Sausage Patties on a Blackstone Griddle

If you have ever wondered How to Cook Sausage Patties, the process is very simple and only takes a few minutes.

Preheat the Griddle:  Preheat your Blackstone Griddle to medium heat, about 350–375°F. This temperature allows the patties to cook through without burning the outside.

Form the Sausage Patties:  Slice the sausage roll and form into evenly shaped patties about ½ inch thick. Press a small indentation in the center with your thumb to help prevent shrinking while cooking.

Cook the Sausage Patties:  Place the patties directly on the hot griddle. Cook for about 3–4 minutes per side, flipping once, until they develop a nice golden brown crust.

Check the Internal Temperature:  The safe internal temperature for pork sausage is 160°F. Using a digital thermometer is a great way to make sure your sausage patties are fully cooked and safe to eat.

Rest and Serve:  Remove the patties from the griddle and place on a paper towel lined plate.  Allow them to rest for a few minutes before serving. This helps the juices redistribute and keeps them tender.

Making your own patties allows you to control the size, which can help manage portions.  Checking the sausage packaging will give you the most accurate information.
