Easy Chocolate Frosting Recipe

This Chocolate Frosting Recipe is only 5 ingredients and super easy to make!!  A 5-minute homemade chocolate frosting that is fluffy, creamy, and perfect for cakes, cupcakes and even brownies.

How To Make Chocolate Frosting

Gather all your ingredients to make this easy chocolate frosting recipe.  Melt the butter.

For best results use a KitchenAid mixer to make this recipe.  In a large mixing bowl add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder.

Carefully, combine until just mixed on the lowest setting.  Add the milk, melted butter and vanilla to the powdered sugar/cocoa mixture.

Pulse the mixer until the ingredients are combined and then mix until frosting is smooth making sure to scrape the side of the bowl a couple of times.  

If you want a thicker frosting, add a little bit more powdered sugar until you reach the desired consistency.  Want a thinner frosting?  Add a little bit more milk.

Ingredients

  • Powdered Sugar 5 1/3 cups (1 lb 8 oz) (680 g)
  • Cocoa Powder. 1/2 cup (1.8 oz) (50 g)
  • Butter 1/2 cup (4 oz) (114 g)
  • Milk 1/2 cup (4.1 oz) (117 g)
  • Vanilla 1 teaspoon (0.2 oz) (5 g)

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients.
  2. Melt the butter.
  3. In a KitchenAid mixer with a large mixing bowl add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder.
