How to Make Slow Cooked Pork!
Gather Ingredients: Start by gathering everything you’ll need to make your Tender Pork and Gravy recipe. Which include pork tenderloin, butter, flour, chicken broth, onion soup mix, and seasonings.
Prep the Pork: Trim the silver skin and excess fat from the pork tenderloin. Cut the pork into ¾ to 1-inch chunks for easy browning.
Coat the Pork: In a resealable bag, combine flour with salt and pepper. Place the pork chunks into the bag in batches, seal, and shake to coat evenly. Shake off excess flour before cooking.
Brown the Pork: Melt butter in the slow cooker pan on the stovetop over medium heat. Brown the pork in batches until golden. Reserve the remaining seasoned flour in the fridge for making gravy later.
Add Broth & Soup Mix: Once the pork is browned, pour chicken broth into the pan and stir in onion soup mix. Combine thoroughly.
Slow Cook the Pork: Transfer the pan to the West Bend Slow Cooker base. Set the temperature to medium-high or high and cook for 4-8 hours. Stir occasionally if possible.
Making Mashed Potatoes and Pork Gravy
Prepare Mashed Potatoes: While the pork is slow cooking, peel and quarter russet potatoes. Boil in salted water for 30 minutes or until tender. Drain, add butter and milk, and mash until smooth. Adjust texture with more milk or butter if necessary. Check out my full post about fluffy homemade mashed potatoes.
How to Make Pork Gravy: When the pork is finished cooking, take the reserved flour mixture from the fridge and mix it with ½ to ¾ cup of water to create a slurry.
Thicken the Pork Dish: Slowly add the flour slurry to the pork mixture while stirring, until the gravy reaches your desired thickness.
Serve: Pair the tender pork and rich gravy with your creamy mashed potatoes, and enjoy this comforting, hearty meal!

Tender Pork and Gravy
There is a special place reserved in my heart for this Tender Pork and Gravy recipe. This slow cooked pork is fork tender and pairs well with creamy mashed potatoes. Having made this pork tenderloin dish for more than 20 years for my family, this recipe is sheer pork perfection.
Ingredients
- Pork Tenderloin 2 pounds
- Butter 4 tablespoons
- Flour, All Purpose 1 cup
- Salt 2 teaspoons
- Pepper 1 teaspoon
- Onion Soup Mix packet 1 ounce
- Chicken Broth 32 ounces
- Potatoes, medium 7 each
- Salt 1 teaspoon
- Milk 1/2 cup
- Butter 4 tablespoons
Instructions
- Gather all of your ingredients to make this Tender Pork and Gravy recipe.
- Melt 4 tablespoons butter in the West Bend pan on the stove over medium heat. Next, remove the silver skin and fat from the pork loin. Cut pork into small ¾ to 1-inch chunks.
- Place flour into a plastic bag. Then season the flour with salt and pepper. Place 1/3rd of the pork pieces into the flour bag, shake and place the floured pork pieces into the melted butter pan. Repeat with flouring the pork pieces and adding to the pan until all floured meat is added to the pan.
- Reserve the leftover flour to make a slurry for the gravy.
- Brown the pork about 20 minutes stirring occasionally until you get golden brown color.
- Add the chicken broth and onion soup mix to the pan. Stir to combine all of the ingredients.
- Place the pan onto the West Bend Hot Plate, cover and turn the temperature to medium high to high for 4 to 8 hours.
- Making Mashed Potatoes
Prepare the mashed potatoes by peeling and quartering the potatoes. Place the potatoes in a medium stock pot, cover with cold water and add about 1 teaspoon of salt to the water. - Bring to a boil and once the water is boiling set a timer of 30 minutes. After 30 minutes check the potatoes for doneness by poking with a fork and twist to see if the potato breaks apart. If the potato breaks apart easily then it is done, if not cook 5-10 minutes longer and then recheck.
- When the potatoes are done, drain the water, add ½ cup of the milk along with 4 tablespoons butter.
- Mash the potatoes with a hand masher, an electric mixer or a stand mixer until the desired texture is achieved. Add more milk or butter, if needed.
- Time to thicken the pork! Place the leftover seasoned flour into a container. Add enough water (1/2 to 1 cup) to make a slurry when stirred. Thicken the boiling pork dish with the flour slurry until the desired thickness is achieved. Lightly boil for 2 minutes.
- Top the mashed potatoes with the pork and gravy.

What is meant in the recipe by TT ? I’ve just never seen this “abbreviation.”
TT means “to taste”. Add the seasons to taste depending on what you want. If you like a little salt, add just a little bit of salt. If you like a lot of salt, add more salt.
In this recipe you list Pork loin tenderloin. Which is it as they are two different cuts of pork? That is confusing.
Great question! You can use either for this pork and gravy recipe. A pork loin and a pork tenderloin will work because you are cutting the meat up into small pieces and then slow cooking it to make a tender piece of meat.
