How to Make Griddle Pinwheel Sandwiches

Prepare your fillings:  Lay out your tortillas and spread a thin, even layer of cream cheese, ranch dressing, or your favorite flavored spread.  You can also skip the spread and add a dipping sauce while serving.

Add meats and cheese:  Layer your deli meats and cheese slices evenly over the tortilla. Avoid overfilling so they roll easily.

Roll and slice:  Tightly roll up the tortilla and slice into 1-inch thick pinwheels using a sharp knife. Secure each slice with a toothpick if needed.

Heat your Blackstone Griddle:  Preheat your griddle to medium-low heat (around 350°F). Lightly oil the surface with oil, butter, or cooking spray.

Griddle the pinwheel sandwiches:  Place the pinwheels cut side down and cook for about 2–3 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula until golden and the cheese starts melting out.

Serve warm with dipping sauce:  Transfer your toasted pinwheels to a serving platter and enjoy them while they’re hot and melty.  Add an assortment of dipping sauces.

CHEF SHERRY’S TIP:  These griddle pinwheel sandwiches are not only simple to make but also perfect for making ahead of time. Just assemble the rolls, store them in the fridge, and griddle them up right before serving!

How to Serve Pinwheel Sandwiches

Serve your Blackstone griddle pinwheel sandwiches on a large platter with dipping sauces like ranch, honey mustard, or chipotle mayo. They make great finger foods for parties, picnics, and family get-togethers.

For a casual meal, pair them with a side salad, chips, or even a cup of soup!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make pinwheel sandwiches ahead of time?

Yes! You can assemble and refrigerate them up to 24 hours before cooking. Just wrap tightly in plastic wrap until ready to griddle.

What’s the best cheese for pinwheel sandwiches?

Cheeses that melt well like cheddar, provolone, or mozzarella work great on the Blackstone Griddle.  Slices works best but shredded cheese can be used if needed.

Can I make these without meat?

Absolutely! Make vegetarian pinwheel sandwiches using cream cheese, spinach, bell peppers,  and cheese slices.

How do I keep the pinwheels from unrolling while cooking?

Use toothpicks to hold them together on the griddle or make sure you roll them tightly before slicing.
