What is a Hot Chocolate Bombs?
A bomb is a hollow chocolate shell that is filled with hot chocolate mix and your favorite toppings such as marshmallows. My preference is to use wafer chocolate, but you can use chocolate chips, bar chocolate or chocolate melts.

How to Melt Chocolate
Melting your chocolate for the shells can be done several different ways. My favorite way is to melt the chocolate in the microwave. Or use the double boiler method or use a hot plate.
Tips to know before you start melting your chocolate in the microwave.
#1 – Use a wide mouth glass jar to melt your chocolate in.
#2 – 20 to 30 second intervals in the microwave then stir. Repeat this method until your chocolate is melted.
#3 – Do not overheat your chocolate!! Putting the chocolate in the microwave to long will create hot spots and then start to burn your chocolate.
Once your chocolate is burned, it has to be thrown away. There is no way to save your chocolate after it is burned. So, it is better to use caution when setting the timer. LESS TIME IS BEST!!
#4 – If you are using old chocolate or chocolate that is not wanting to melt very well, then I use Paramount Crystals to help in the melting process. Paramount Crystals are a must if you do chocolate work.
Just sprinkle a few tablespoons over your chocolate. The Paramount Crystals will melt and just stir it into your chocolate.
Professional bakers use these crystals when making chocolate covered item. Because when biting into the chocolate, it is softer and does not break into pieces all over the place.
If you do not have Paramount Crystals, then you can use a tablespoon of shortening instead. This also melts and is stirred into the chocolate.
#5 – Temper your chocolate. To temper your chocolate, just melt it and then add a couple pieces of un-melted chocolate.
Stir to melt the newly pieces of chocolate. Do not put the chocolate back into the microwave. Just keep on stirring until all is melted.
#6 – Once the chocolate is melted, then place on the hot plate lined with a wet towel to keep warm.

Melt your chocolate using the “How to Melt Chocolate” method. Line your molds with the melted chocolate.
Use about 1 Tablespoon of melted chocolate. With a food grade paint brush, apply the chocolate to the inside of the mold.
Pop the mold into the freezer for a few minutes to set the chocolate. Once set, the chocolate will pull away from the mold.
With gloved hands, unmold the chocolate shells. Place the shells on a piece of paper towel. Flip the empty mold up-side down.
Unmolded Chocolate Shells Make a divot in the cocoa mix. Fill the cocoa shells with your favorite toppings.
Cradle a chocolate shell in between the bumps of the mold. Fill the mold with 1 Tablespoon of cocoa mix and your favorite topping.
Use marshmallows, dried marshmallows, crushed candy canes, mini chocolate chips, Nutella, caramel pieces, and Andes mints to fill your shell.
The secret to the perfect bomb is having a clean edge to your shell. To do that, warm a plate and slightly melt the edge of each shell to get a clean edge. The top shell is melted and quickly placed over-top of the bottom shell and gently press together to seal the two shells together.
