My Slow Cooker of Choice

I recommend using a West Bend Slow Cooker.  I have used this West Bend brand of slow cooker for over 20 years.

The metal base can be used on the stove to brown your vegetables and meat if needed.  And then returned to the slow cooker base to cook all day long.

I used this cooker when I was working but still wanted a delicious meal for my family when we were ready to have dinner.  If you don’t have a West Bend Slow Cooker, you can use an Instant Pot slow cooker or a Crock Pot.

My shredded pork of choice is a smoked pork butt. It is so flavorful and goes great in chili. If you have a pellet smoker then give my smoked pulled pork a try.

Don’t have a smoker? Try my Instant Pot Pulled Pork recipe that is slow cooked until it’s fall apart tender.

Add Ingredients to Slow Cooker:  Once you have all your vegetables chopped, add all ingredients to the 4 quart slow cooker or larger.  Stir to combine.

Absolutely! Leftover smoked pulled pork adds depth and richness to chili, making it even more flavorful.  Simply shred the pork and add it to the pot of chili.

The level of spiciness can be adjusted to your preference by adding chili powder, spicier peppers such as jalapeños, or pepper flakes.  Start with the suggested ingredients and adjust accordingly based on your taste preferences.

Yes, chili freezes very well!  Store leftover chili in an airtight container and freeze for up to three months.  Simply thaw in the refrigerator overnight and reheat on the stove or in the microwave before serving.
